Who am I?
My name is Jonathan Lee.
My enthusiasm for cycling began when I was very young by painting my sisters bike in fluorescent paint as a Christmas present. I then progressed to a bike from the local barber that was several sizes too big for me. I broke it several times and learnt a few skills with the help of local bike shops - there were lots about then. I used Marriots on South Place in Chesterfield and Bodens - opposite the Esso petrol station in Birdholme.
I then had a brief interruption with 32 years as a Firefighter in Chesterfield during which I developed my passion for cycling further by commuting and mountain biking including cycling across Mexico in aid of Macmillan cancer relief.
After retirement from the fire service in 2010 I gained employment with a Peak District bicycle shop and achieved my City and Guilds level two qualification in February 2013 after which I set up Wheels On Fire working from a small workshop. I left the Peak District bike shop in July 2014 to concentrate on my own business.
I am never going to get rich from this but as an enthusiast I get pleasure from "Happy Cyclists"!!
